Your body talks to you. Learn how to listen

Work, classes, workouts, social plans… And then suddenly fatigue hits, your head starts to ache and your focus disappears. These are signals that your body sends when it needs you to slow down or take some time for self-care.

Fatigue, pain, stress, hunger and thirst are the most common messages your body uses to get your attention. These signs are a wake-up call from your body, inviting you to respond with kindness and become more aware of what your body needs.

Listening to your body is easier than it seems. Accept messages without judgement and respond with compassion to boost your physical and emotional well-being. These tips can help:

Fatigue. When you feel tired, stop pushing through. Prioritise your rest and make sure you’re getting enough sleep.

Pain. Whether it’s your head, back or anywhere else, don’t ignore pain. Try to identify the cause, and if it persists, visit your doctor for a proper diagnosis.

Stress. Instead of letting anxiety and stress build up, adress them with relaxation techniques such as meditation or breathing exercises or get some exercise, one of nature’s natural stress relievers.

Hunger. Sudden hunger can be the result of stress or other factors. Choose healthy foods that give you energy. While pastries and snacks might satisfy your craving, they’re high in sugar and fat and won’t fill you up.

Thirst. Dehydration is easy to fix by drinking water regularly throughout the day.  Remember that sugary drinks don’t quench your thirst.

Learning to listen to your body, and responding with kindness, is the best way to be more aware of what your body is telling you and stay in tune with your mind.
